The bloom makes the mountains blue; We make the landscape brown?

Cholakurinji – the bloom of the sholas

There are many species of shola kurinji (locally known as cholakurinji) in the southern Western Ghats flowering once in 10 years. The latest gregarious flowering of neelakurinji was in 2006 and those of many species of cholakurinji was in 2008. So the year 2018 is going to be very unique, with a synchronisation in flowering of neelakurinji and cholakurinji, which happens only once in 60 years. The entire grass lands and sholas will be in a blue bloom in this kurinji season giving a great opportunity to those who want to study kurinji seriously.
