“Hey, guess what?” Sarath saunters into our bedroom with a smug grin.
“What?” I mumble without taking my eyes off the diaper I was changing for our 11 month old daughter, Minnu.
“2018 is the Kurinji year. The Neelakurinji has bloomed in Munnar after 12 years. They say it’s magical. Wanna go check it out?” The excitement in my husband’s voice was palpable.
Being a ‘work from home mom’, the new breed of motherhood (thanks to the Internet Era) who is both a ‘stay at home mom’ and a ‘working woman’ at the same time, I sure as hell needed a break from routine but wasn’t ready to believe his offer yet.
“Really?” I ask raising my brows at our screaming little kid.
“Really.” He smiles.
And that’s how the three of us found ourselves at Kumarakom which was to be the starting point of our five day quest in search of the legendary Neelakurinji.
