Kerala to be changed into an international shopping hub
The
government has commenced action plans to transform the state into an international
shopping centre, said Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism. The Grand
Kerala Shopping Festival, which is scheduled from December 1, 2008 to January
15, 2008, is a first step towards this, he added.
The
Festival primarily aims at creating better markets for the indigenous products
of Kerala. According to Mr. Elamarom Kareem, Minister for Industries, apart
from developing the trade as well as production sectors of Kerala, GKSF also
aims at attracting customers from the other states.
