Homestays to go global

Kerala Tourism has tied up with Mahindra Holidays and Resorts Ltd. to market and promote homestays in the state globally. Dr. Venu V., Secretary, Kerala Tourism has said that the innovative agreement would provide an efficient solution for the burgeoning accommodation needs in the tourism sector while also ensuring the participation of the local community. Kerala Homestays would be marketed, rated and branded overseas through the portal www.mahindrahomestays.com as an experiential holiday product that offers an authentic taste of traditional hospitality. The immediate focus would be on the United Kingdom which has proved to be a key-market for Kerala.

This initiative would bring more than 350 classified but scattered homestays in Kerala under a single platform. According to Kerala Tourism Director M. Sivasankar, the agreement will be a successful move towards wooing the alert, independent traveler in search of experiential holidays.
