New era of splendour for Kottayil Kovilakam
Kottayil Kovilakam, which once had a distinguished place in the cultural space of Ernakulam, has found its place in the tourist map of Kerala, with Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism, inaugurating the second phase of the Kottayil Kovilakam tourism project. The minister said that boating facilities will be made available for the complete development of the tourist destination.
Located on the banks of river Periyar, Kottayil Kovilakam presents the unusual sight of a temple, a church, a mosque and a Jewish synagogue, all situated close to each other. With the development of this ancient palace, Chennamangalam will be a prominent travel destination in Ernakulam.
