The second edition of Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) was a tremendous success with commendable support from both the customers as well as the merchant enterprises. This year, 1.06 million coupons were sold in one month and it is a laudable advantage, compared to the 0.86 million in 45 days, last year.
Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism, while assessing the functioning
of the festival, said that a trade fair authority will be formed to co-ordinate
the festival. Dr. Venu V., Secretary, Kerala Tourism, has said that Kerala
can surely be proud since with only two editions, GKSF has caught the attention
of the international community. He added that the lost trade and commerce
culture of the state can be recreated through such ventures. Mr. M. Sivasankar,
Director, Kerala Tourism, has observed that with GKSF, trade tourism has got
a new lease of life in Kerala.
Meanwhile, the Non Resident Keralites (NRKs) expressed their support for the
festival in the recently concluded ?Ente Naadu? conference. They lauded the
efforts of Kerala Tourism, which has conducted such a successful venture all
over the state while the much-hailed Singapore as well as Dubai festivals
concentrates in limited venues alone.
