Jet2Kerala – A refreshing travel initiative

As part of its ongoing efforts to boost tourism within India, Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, and Kerala Tourism, recently announced in Mumbai the launch of ‘Jet2Kerala’, a new domestic travel initiative.

Jet Airways and Kerala Tourism, two super brands, will leverage their respective brand equities to boost tourist traffic into Kerala. With a bouquet of attractions for travelers to savour, Kerala has emerged as arguably the leading travel destination in India.

Jet Airways and its all-economy subsidiary, JetLite would offer travelers unmatched pan-India connectivity from all major parts of the country to three key cities in Kerala viz. Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.

Jet Airways and Kerala Tourism have worked closely to design a range of complete Kerala holiday options, packaged along with Jet Airways tickets. Jet2Kerala will offer travelers these packages catering to a range of price points, from premium to value-travelers. Travelers may enjoy a range of accommodation options to suit every budget― from luxury properties to budget hotels and houseboats.

According to Minister for Tourism, Kerala, Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the joint initiative with Jet Airways is expected to bring the desired outcome and its success would go on to devise similar initiatives in future.

Taking part in the launch of the joint initiative in Mumbai, the Secretary for Kerala Tourism, Dr. Venu V., said that Kerala has been positioned as an up-market, high quality international destination. Despite the challenges posed by the global economic downturn, the international tourist arrivals continue to be impressive, with a 16.11% increase in visitors in 2008.

Expressing his thoughts on the new initiative, Director, Kerala Tourism Mr. M. Sivasankar said: “The tie-up with Jet Airways is part of the ongoing efforts of Kerala Tourism to explore new avenues of joint ventures for the effective tourism promotion in Kerala. Two super brands have teamed up to promote each others interests and we at Kerala Tourism look forward to similar rewarding exercises in future.”

According to Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, Jet Airways has always sought to promote tourism both internationally, as well as within India, by leveraging its unmatched pan-India and growing international networks.

Travelers who wish to avail of the Jet2Kerala packages may log on to keralatourism.org/jetairways for more information and book the same through their respective travel agents. For all IATA agents registered through Kerala Tourism, the booking request needs to be sent to the Jet Airways Kochi city counters, for initiating the booking process and the PNR sent to the respective agent. Non-IATA agents may either contact their respective IATA ticketing agent who will follow the above mentioned process, or come to the Jet Airways Kochi city counters themselves, create the PNR’s and make the requisite payment at the counter itself.
