Kakkayam to get a facelift
Already a prominent tourist destination in the Malabar region, Kakkayam is all set to get a timely facelift. This would be in the form of a facilitation centre coming up at the behest of the District Tourism Promotion Council, which is part of the ongoing Kakkayam Valley Tourism project.
The pristine forest in and around Kakkayam is part of the forests in the neighbouring Mysore and the tourist attractions here besides the wildlife also include waterfalls and some hill points ideal for trekking. Homestays, farmstays and similar ventures are also seriously being considered as part of the destination development here. The region as a whole holds potential for adventure tourism.
