The international luxury liner MV Aquamarine, which is the first cruise ship to homeport in India, was officially flagged off on the 1st of December by the Chairman of Cochin Port Trust, Mr. N.Ramachandran I.P.S.
On its maiden voyage from Kochi, its first home port in India, MV Aquamarine carrying 670 passengers and 350 crew on board, set sail for the Maldives. The cruise liner is owned by Louis Cruises India, a subsidiary of Louis Cruises-the 5th largest cruise operator in the world. Kerala Tourism has tied up with the company to market and promote cruise tourism from Kochi.
According to the promoters the cruise to Maldives would be an exciting one with lots of entertainment options backed by top class hospitality services, various shore activities and excursions on the island.
Taking part in the flagging off ceremony, the Secretary for Kerala Tourism, Dr. Venu V. said that 'cruise holidays' is a new product and another exceptional holiday experience in Kerala that will excite Indian travelers. Kerala has been delighting travelers with unique products like houseboats and Ayurveda and this latest offering is the ultimate travel experience for those seeking luxury and action, he said.
