KERALA TOURISM NEWSLETTER
Popularity of Kerala Tourism gets a new wavelength
In its efforts to gain attention of the domestic travel segment, Kerala Tourism has found an effective ally in the ever increasing popularity of FM radios. Kerala Tourism recently tied up with one of the popular FM radio service provider ‘Radio Mirchi’ to promote the state to listeners in New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
The programs would have four radio jockeys visiting Kerala and experience the exotic locales and will broadcast their experiences to listeners in their respective cities, live, three times a day. The broadcast had begun in the first week of May. Listeners would have the radio jockeys take them on a tour, while the jockeys are on the beaches, backwaters and hill stations of Kerala. Their effort will be to have the attention of the listeners to the beauty of a particular destination, something about Kerala culture and specialities of Kerala cuisine. A series of on-air competitions will also be held during the same time, for listeners to win holidays to Kerala.
According to Mr. M.Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism, the latest effort through radio has been designed to give a fillip to the ‘Dream Season’ holidays currently being popularized in major domestic markets, to attract visitors during the lean tourist season in Kerala.
