Thenmala has been on the path of popularity ever since it opened up fully to tourists some ten years ago. Thenmala is the first planned ecotourism destination in India and has over the years lived up to the expectations of its visitors. The last two years have witnessed a steady increase in the number of visitors to Thenmala, especially that of domestic tourists. 

A variety of subjects that could entertain and inform visitors are in place at Thenmala; making it a destination for all age groups. The forest lands here are a major attraction and so are the theme zones for adventure and leisure. For those who would love to get close to nature, the tree house here offers an ideal opportunity. Other attractions here that have more takers are the musical dancing fountain and a pleasurable boat ride on the lake behind the dam, besides a host of other facilities like trampoline jumping, air rifle shooting, archery, Burma bridge, cycling and rock climbing. An aquarium and deer park also forms part of the attractions at Thenmala. One of the recent additions to the park’s overall attraction has been the butterfly park.
