?Visit Kerala? 2009 begins

?Visit Kerala' 2009, a plan to attract more domestic as well as international tourists to Kerala in the year 2009 has been launched. This venture by the Kerala Tourism will co-ordinate the functioning of different hotels, resorts and tour operators in the state. Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism, has said that though recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai have sent a negative message, Kerala remains to be one of the safest of destinations in the world. He added that there was a steep increase in the number of tourists who arrived in the state between January 2008 and October 2008.

Dr. Venu V., Secretary, Kerala Tourism, has said that the formal inauguration of ?Visit Kerala' 2009 will be held later. Kerala Tourism is trying its level best to convey among foreign tour operators as well as tourists, the message that Kerala is cent per cent safe for travelers, he said.
