Karlad Tourism Centre, Wayanad
Karlad Tourism Centre, a new lake project in the hill district of Wayanad in north Kerala was recently inaugurated by Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism. Located near Thariyode in Wayanad, on the banks of Lake Karlad the centre has a facilitation centre, boating facilities, a heritage village, conference hall, two dormitories, a restaurant, a toilet block and a garden.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said: "The Union Ministry for Tourism had asked the State Government to consider proposals to tap the tourism potential of Wayanad and Alappuzha districts." The state government would seriously consider the two districts for its proposed mega tourism project, the minister added.
