First India International Kite festival at Kappad
A three-day long India International Kite festival was held at Kappad beach in Kozhikode. Inaugurating the first edition of the Kite festival at Kappad beach, Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Tourism Minister said that the festival is a unique one and has great potential to promote the overall tourism potential of the region.
The event was organized by Kappad Destination Management Council (KDMC) in association with District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Kozhikode. Fifty teams, including seven from abroad like China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and Qatar participated in the Kite festival.
The kite festival would be held as an annual event and would take place ideally in January from next year onwards considering several factors such as weather conditions and presence of travellers. Kite-making workshops, food festival and cultural events are the added attractions of the event.
