National honours for Kerala Tourism
Once again, Kerala Tourism made it to the award winners list when the National Tourism awards for 2008-09 were announced recently. Among the awards declared, Kerala Tourism bagged the one for the 'Most Innovative Use of Information Technology' made possible through its content reach, user-friendly and highly popular travel website - www.keralatourism.org. It was the fourth occasion for Kerala Tourism to receive this award. Designed and maintained by Invis Multimedia, the IT solution provider to Kerala Tourism, the website bagged the award for its innovative and enhanced Information Technology based features, which are of great utility to the users in the travel and tourism sector worldwide.
Kerala Tourism also won the 'Best Responsible Tourism Project' award, which went to Kumarakom Gramapanchayat, located in Kottayam district of Kerala. Kumarakom is a well-known backwater destination in Kerala where the practice of Responsible Tourism, being implemented at the initiative of Kerala Tourism is now going on in full swing, to the delight of the stakeholders and the local community.
