Responsible Tourism initiatives in the major tourist spots of Kerala will enhance the possibilities of tourism in the State, said Mr. Cherian Philip, Chairman Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). "Implementing the initiative in Kumarakom has fetched impressive results," said Mr. Cherian Philip during a function held at Kumarakom on Responsible Tourism (RT).
The introduction of environmental conservation techniques such as organic farming in RT initiatives helps to gain the active participation of the local populace. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is undergoing renovation. Three watchtowers would be built for the tourists for bird watching. The watchtowers when completed would help Kumarakom to become one of the most-frequented tourist destinations in the world, said Mr. Cherian Philip.
