No guide for you to discover Kerala? During your next visit to Kerala you can explore God's Own Country without a guide. Audio Guide - a recorded commentary would lead your way to explore your favourite destinations in Kerala. Audio Guide is a unique initiative of Kerala Tourism, which was recently launched by Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism.
To make use of the Audio Guide, tourists visiting Kerala require only a mobile phone. Kerala Tourism's Audio Guide will provide tourists with a recorded, spoken commentary of the major tourist spots in Kerala, which will help the tourists' to have a self-guided tour in God's Own Country.
Launched in association with MobME Wireless Solutions - a mobile-phone value-added services company - the Audio Guide can be accessed by dialing 9048 755555. This is followed by entering the unique identification number of the destination that will be displayed on the screen. By doing so, the Audio Guide will start the narration. Tourists can listen to the description of specific spots and details of exhibits by entering the code number displayed next to the exhibit. The users can also fast-forward, rewind, pause or replay the description.
The Audio Guide can be accessed any time from any part of the globe. The commentary has been recorded in English, Hindi and Malayalam languages. And standard rates will be applicable for the mobile phones.
"It is a path-breaking initiative in the country. Most of the people today have a mobile phone. So instead of hiring an expensive headphone-based audio guide about a tourist spot, you only need to pay for a phone call. At the same time, it has all the facilities of a headphone-based audio guide," said Dr. Venu V., Secretary, Kerala Tourism.
