'Bring Home a Friend' (BHF), a new initiative of Kerala Tourism specially packed for Non-Resident Keralites (NRK's) was recently inaugurated by Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism. This new initiative is highly beneficial for Malayalis living in other states and abroad who can invite their friends and colleagues to Kerala for earning reward points, which in turn, will help NRK's to enjoy lovely holidays in their home town.
Under the BHF programme, NRKs will have to register themselves at www.keralatourism.org/bhf/. Once the registration is over they can refer their friends to the website. Each reference will be forwarded to three accredited tour operators, who, in turn, will present their tour packages to potential visitors. For each successful reference, NRKs' will automatically earn reward points equivalent to 10 per cent of the package value, excluding the cost of the flight to the NRKs' account.
"We decided to use their contacts to establish a link with tour operators in the state and had structured a reward system as well in line with the popular mileage schemes offered by airlines," said Mr. M. Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism.
The initiative will involve government-accredited tour operators of Kerala. Kerala Tourism has 29 accredited tour operators and they have been selected by a committee comprising tourism industry representatives for the 'Bring Home a Friend' initiative.
