Just as in London, double-decker buses had always been a part of the landscape in Thiruvananthapuram. Now, as part of the heritage city tourism package, Kerala Tourism, along with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), have introduced tourist-friendly double-decker buses for tourists to explore the capital city. The double-decker buses, which have been reintroduced in the capital city after a six-year break, can now be hired by tourists and students as tourist buses.
A tour beginning from the East Fort will cover the historic spots and places of interests in the city like Napier Museum, Science and Technology Museum, Veli Tourist Village and Shankhumugham and Kovalam beaches.
The bus, which can accommodate 77 passengers at a time on the upper and lower decks, will be available for tourists during the daytime. The buses can be hired for an eight-hour trip for a payment of Rs. 4,000 and a four-hour trip for Rs. 2,500.
