By winning the 'Favourite Indian state for travel and tourism' award Kerala Tourism once again reaffirmed its super brand position at the national level. God's Own Country has been selected as the top travel and tourism destination in the country by a survey conducted by global consumer-research company Nielsen and the readers of Outlook Traveller magazine.
Dr. Venu. V., Secretary, Kerala Tourism, received the award from Mrs. Sheila Dikshit, Delhi Chief Minister at a ceremony in New Delhi. "The award was an honour for Kerala. Coming from a respected travel magazine, it's an honour. I accept it on behalf of all the stakeholders, the private sector and the government of Kerala," said the Secretary after receiving the award.
The survey is claimed to be an authoritative benchmark of consumer preferences in travel and tourism across other 17 categories, including hotels, airlines and holiday destinations. More than 4,000 readers took part in the survey and Kerala has been selected from among the other 29 states competing in the category. This is the fifth award for Kerala Tourism in a span of six months.
