Themed on backwaters and Chinese fishing nets, the Kerala Pavilion bagged the 'best stand award' at the World Travel Mart (WTM) 2011 held recently in London. Kerala Tourism's 117-sq. m pavilion portrayed a slice of the pristine beauty of Kerala.
An eye-catching stand with a huge image of Kerala backwater with Chinese fishing nets and a canoe depicts the story of the destination, the jury observed. The pavilion of Kerala Tourism was the biggest by any state during WTM 2011.
"We are glad that we could present a slice of Kerala through this pavilion. We are conveying to the world that it is just a glimpse of the beauty that our State has. This is a recognition to our efforts and a big push to our endeavours on the marketing front," said, Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, who led the Kerala contingent at the WTM.
"The stand was a major crowd-puller and gave the business visitors a feel of 'God's Own Country.' We are overwhelmed by the response at the fair," said Mr. T. K. Manoj Kumar, Secretary, Kerala Tourism.
"Once again, the stands have revealed the level of creativity, on a global scale. Travel companies and tourism boards have again outdone themselves as they presented the best of their respective countries along with necessary information," said Ms. Fiona Jeffrey, Chairperson, World Travel Mart.
The stand was conceived and designed by Stark Communications Pvt. Ltd.
