KERALA TOURISM NEWSLETTER
Kerala Tourism Partnership meets
Encouraged by the good response it received last year, Kerala Tourism is conducting partnership meets in tier-two Indian cities this year also. Organised in two phases, the partnership meets include business sessions, screening of films on destinations and products, interactive sessions, media interaction and cultural programmes.
The first phase of partnership meets were held in the cities of Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Gwalior and Mysore in July. One-day partnership meets will be held in Coimbatore, Vadodara and Pune in August and the cities of Raipur and Indore will host the event in September.
Metropolitan cities of Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Guwahati and the state of Goa are included in the second phase to be held in the months of January, February and March in 2012.
So far, Kerala has tapped only a fraction of the potential of domestic tourism. Last year, Kerala had registered an 18 percent growth in domestic tourist arrivals and highest number tourists were from Tamil Nadu, followed by Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Delhi. The partnership meets are expected to ensure a consistent inflow of domestic tourist arrivals to the state.
