Litter-free zones announced

The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), in association with the district administration, has launched an ambitious project titled 'Litter-Free Zone' to make tourist destinations in Kozhikode clean and hygienic.

As part of the project, DTPC will declare five major destinations in the district - Kozhikode beach, Kappad beach, Beypore beach, Sarovaram bio-park and Thamarassery ghat road - as litter-free zones. The project will ensure that wastes are removed in time and the destinations are kept clean.

Special uniforms will be distributed to 'Green Guards', the personnel who will ensure the cleanliness of the spots. It has also been decided to impose a fine of Rs.100 from those who violate the cleanliness rules in destinations. The project is a continuation of Mass Action for Plastic waste-free Kozhikode (MAP).
