Malampuzha Garden gets a facelift

Situated on the lower hills of Western Ghats, the Malampuzha Garden, built during the 1960s and 1970s, has been reconstructed to suit the taste of modern tourists. The revamped garden has a Japanese Park, Nandi Park, Children''s Park, Rock Garden and a boat jetty. The surroundings of the all-time favourite Malampuzha Yakshi, created by the famous sculptor of Kerala - Kanayi Kunhiraman, have also been beautified.

The new entrance gate and the illumination of the main areas of the garden are added attractions. The refurbished Malampuzha Rock Garden, is the only rock garden in South India conceived by Padmasree Nek Chand Saini, who constructed the famous Rock Garden in Chandigarh. The Rock Garden at Malampuzha was built during 1993-95 and the renovation work was executed under the supervision of volunteers from the Nek Chand Foundation.

The Malampuzha garden, a place known for its scenic beauty with spectacular geographical background, has always been a favourite spot for filmmakers. The garden and the surroundings are blessed with several species of trees. The vegetation in the Akamalavaram forests, situated on the other side of the Malampuzha dam and reservoir are prime attractions for tourists and nature-lovers.

Located in the Palakkad district, the Malampuzha Garden and reservoir attract a large number of tourists, both domestic and foreign, every year.
