North Malabar, an international tourist hub

With the completion of the ongoing Bekal Tourism project, North Malabar will become a major international tourist hub said, Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism, while laying the foundation stone for the 'Grand Nirvana Bekal,' a backwater beach resort at Malankunnu at Bekal in Kasaragod.

The Bekal Tourism Project would be completed in two years and the proposed project would have four resorts generating hundreds of jobs for the local youngsters. Under the Malabar Development package, the state government would build five new roads each with an additional width of 10 metres.

The work on the proposed airstrip near Periya would also be completed along with the Bekal project. The airstrip would enable the landing of small aircraft and it would increase the tourists' inflow to the state.
