God's Own Treasure - an online game to promote destinations

Kerala Tourism is all set to introduce an online game to promote tourist destinations in the state. Aimed at attracting both domestic and foreign tourists, the online game will have a hand- drawn map of Kerala with trail and markings of important tourist destinations in the state.

Online visitors can discover Kerala by tracing the trail using various modes of transport like a rented car, bus, bike or houseboat. On reaching a location, the visitor would come across a treasure 'God's Own Treasure.' In this treasure a destination's major attractions such as temples, churches, historic monuments, beaches or national parks could be spotted.

When the gamer reaches a destination, he or she can handle a camera and get into the photography mode. Good photographs will earn more points for the gamer and also unlock the information about the particular destination. The treasure one discovers and the photographs can be shared with friends through Facebook and other social networking sites.

Destinations such as Kovalam, Varkala, Munnar, Kumarakom, Fort Kochi, Thenmala, Thekkady, Wagamon, Muzhappilangad, Bekal, Athirapally, Guruvayur, Parambikkulam, Kappad and Wayanad will be included in the online game.

The game has been developed by Zapak.com, which owns the largest chain of dedicated gaming cafes in the country. It will be available on the website of the company and will be featured as an add-on element in the official website of Kerala Tourism.
