Good response to Kerala Tourism partnership meets

To emphasize the marketing of the destination and the unique tourism products of Kerala in the domestic and foreign markets, the partnership meets of Kerala Tourism have so far been a success. The partnership meets within the country and foreign nations have started paying surplus for Kerala Tourism. The partnership meets held in the tier two cities in the country has received a good response in the market. The first of the partnership meets held in Chennai and Bangalore attracted 119 and 141 buyers respectively.

The meeting held in tier two cities in Germany, U.K. and the Scandinavian countries has received a warm welcome from the participants. These meets, basically business meets of half-day duration, aim at showcasing the unique tourism products and services to the tour operators and travel agents of the source market. Kerala Tourism would attend all major global travel marts and fairs in this year to increase the foreign tourist arrivals. Road shows are also being planned in Paris and Barcelona later this year.

The massive response from the partnership meets kicked off in the tier two cities within the country helped Kerala Tourism to concentrate more on the domestic market also. The meeting within the country includes a business session, screening of films on the destination and products, interactive session, media interaction and staging of cultural programmes.

"In fact, organising partnership meets and concentrating on the tier two cities within the country and three main source markets abroad had helped to check the dip in the tourist arrivals to Kerala due to economic recession," said Mr. M. Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism.

The state tourism authorities along with the stake-holders would attend the four-day ITB Berlin from March. To hit the Scandinavian market, Kerala Tourism would attend the Tour Gothenburg to be held in March in Sweden. The focus of Kerala Tourism is to sell the destination in new towns and cities. Along with this, Kerala Tourism has also participated in the SATTE, the leading B2B travel and tourism event held in Delhi.
