'Saparya' scheme launched in Kannur

As part of enhancing tourism sectors in north Kerala, Synergizing Actions Through Participatory Approach (Saparya), the pilot phase of an innovative tourism scheme of Kerala Tourism was flagged off recently in the Kannur district of Kerala. This new project was launched as an initiative of the Tourist Resorts Kerala Ltd. (TRKL).

Saparya tourism is a programme, which would help in the equitable distribution of tourism-related resources while giving tourists the experience of distinct cultures, ethnic lifestyles, traditional arts, hill stations and backwaters across Kerala. This would help foreign tourists to reach untapped destinations in the villages of north Kerala.

The Saparya launched in Kannur will cover Azhikode, Pallikunnu, Edakkad, Muzhappilangad and Dharmadom panchayats and Kannur and Thalassery municipalities. Apart from Kannur, Saparya is being launched as a pilot scheme in Kasaragod, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts, before implementation in remaining parts of Kerala.
