Splash 2011 - the monsoon carnival
The third edition of 'Splash 2011', the monsoon carnival organised by Wayanad Tourism Organisation (WTO), offered a veritable treat to hundreds of travellers this year too. This unique festival is held to promote 'rain tourism' in Wayanad district.
This year the participants were offered a host of indoor and outdoor activities. Travel writers, tour operators and leading names in India's travel fraternity attended the event.
The indoor programmes included ayurvedic rejuvenation sessions, seminars on spices, photo exhibition on Wayanad and discussions on organic farming and tribal protection. Outdoor programmes included country rafting, crab tour, archery, elephant ride, slush ploughing, slush football, volleyball and rain biking. A variety of shopping options were also arranged for the participants. Separate stalls for local artefacts, souvenirs, culinary items and tribal food were set up at the venue.
