KERALA TOURISM NEWSLETTER
Tourism policy for all stakeholders
To resolve the hassles faced by homestay owners and other prominent entities in the tourism sector, the State Government is all set to come up with its new tourism policy for all stakeholders, said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, in the third state-level meeting of Kerala Homestay and Tourism Society (Kerala HATS).
The problems faced by homestay owners owing to the lack of proper inter-departmental co-ordination will be solved soon. Most of the tourists visiting the state generally prefer homestays, as they offer unique experiences of hospitality, food and the land's culture.
"Efforts are needed to sustain interest in state's tourist destinations since many other states and even nearby countries are offering tough competition. Steps would be taken to retain Kerala's identity and the core values of the people", said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism.
The state government can seek assistance from NABARD for maintaining the roads leading to tourism locales and lay out a proper water supply system which can help the tourism industry to grow on its own, said Mr. K.V. Thomas, Union Minister of State for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, in the meeting.
From the next shopping season onwards, Ernakulam district will be the epicentre of the annual 45-day Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), added the Tourism Minister.
