Kerala Tourism bags the first 'Times Travel Award'
Kerala Tourism's effort to make Kerala as one of the top-most tourist attractions in the world, once again got acknowledged through an award. This time, Kerala Tourism bagged the Times Travel Award for the 'best domestic tourism department' instituted by the Times Group.
"The award has given confidence for us to make more efforts to develop Kerala as an international tourism destination," said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala. The award is an appreciation for the attempts of Kerala Tourism's focus to strengthen the basic infrastructure and to introduce new initiatives to attract more tourists to the state, added the minister.
The Government of Kerala is responsible for attracting more tourists by improving the quality of major tourist destinations. With the help of public-private-partnership, more tourist facilities will be introduced soon in the State.

Your Moment is Waiting, a three minute promotional film won more than a dozen awards last year, including the Golden Gate City Award during Internationale Tourismus Börse in Berlin; Bronze World Medal for cinematography at the New York Festivals and the Gold Award from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Kerala also had won the Outlook Traveller Tourism Awards 2010, in the category for 'Favourite Indian State' besides the CNBC Awaaz Awards for the 'most preferred destination' and 'best tourism board' in September last year.
"The award is another benchmark for the level of excellence and innovation of Kerala Tourism in the responsible development of travel and tourism," said Mr. K. G. Mohanlal, Managing Director, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, who received the Times Travel Award on behalf of Kerala Tourism.
Times Group launched the Times Travel Award to recognize achievements for the fast growing travel and hospitality industry in India.
