The State government will take steps in the sixth season of Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) helping it to reach out to more people said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, after inaugurating the activities forming part of the sixth edition of the GKSF.
"The government would consider either reducing the registration fee in the general category or make it entirely free, so that small-scale traders could also benefit from it," said the tourism minister.
Efforts will be made to ensure that the sixth season of GKSF would be of benefit to the tourism sector as well. The prize structure will be reworked with the objective of making the festival more attractive to large number of people. After the festival of Onam, GKSF is Kerala's biggest shopping season and the major retail brands will be asked to offer attractive discounts like those offered during the Onam Season.
To attract major brands to Kerala, the government will take steps to link major international brands with the GKSF. The Global Village in Kochi will be one of the key attractions of the sixth season. The sixth season of GKSF, which is a 45-day long shopping festival, would be held all over Kerala from 1st December 2012 to 15 January 2013.
