Kakki, Anathode and Moozhiyar in Pathanamthitta district will be developed as eco-tourism destinations by the Kerala Forest Department. Situated in Goodrickal Range, development programmes worth Rs. 20 million has been chalked out in these upcoming eco-tourism locations.
As per the new project, boating facility will be developed in Kakki dam. Also, information centres, new trekking paths, huts on both sides of dams, huts on tree-tops, toilets and other basic facilities will be developed in these destinations.
Space for cloud-watching, bird-watching and wildlife have been included in the proposed eco-tourism centres. The project also ensures the social and economic uplift of the tribal communities by engaging them as tourist guides and to help tourists in trekking and boating.
Nestled in Pathanamthitta reserve forest, Kakki, Anathode and Moozhiyar are enchanting dam sites built on the tributaries of River Pamba.
