Kerala remains top tourist destination in India
Kerala retained its status as the best tourist destination in India for the second consecutive year in a survey conducted by the Nielsen Company. The survey says that Kerala topping the list is a no-brainer, as the State has huge tourist appeal, infrastructure and scenic grandeur. The honour for Kerala comes close on the heels of Kerala Tourism's promotional ad film 'Your Moment is Waiting' featuring in the newest edition of Limca Book of Records.
It has come as a big endorsement for Brand Kerala. It will spur us to take it forward with many more new initiatives," says Mr. T. K. Manoj Kumar, Secretary, Kerala Tourism.
It was indeed a coveted laurel for Kerala in general and Kerala Tourism in particular," said Ms. Rani George, Director, Kerala Tourism.
The survey also shows that Kerala is the second-best State for winter destination in the country. Scenic beauty and value for money were the two major factors considered for this. Besides this, Kerala occupies fourth position in the category of beach destinations.
In terms of food, facilities and visual appeal, Kochi was ranked sixth. Also, Fort Kochi ranks tenth in the list of 12 best Heritage Sites in the country.
