Tourist facilitation centre at Aranmula
The heritage village of Aranmula gets a new tourist facilitation centre. Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala inaugurated the work of the tourist facilitation centre at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta District. The facilitation centre will have a tourist guidance office, handicrafts sales counter, internet café, art gallery and a comfort station.
"The State government will extend all support for the development of tourism in Pathanamthitta," said the tourism minister.
Aranmula, a village situated on the banks of River Pamba is famous for its exceptional metal mirrors - Aranmula Kannadi. The village is also famous for the annual boat race - the Aranmula Vallamkali - held in the last week of Onam festival. The centuries-old Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, one of the major pilgrim centres is situated here. And the Vastu Vidya Gurukulam, another landmark institution in Aranmula, is a training centre meant for the traditional architecture and mural paintings.
