Taking part in the International French Travel Mart (IFTM) Top Resa, the largest travel and tourism fair in France, the Kerala pavilion caught the attention of many visitors, which clearly vouched Kerala’s keenness with regard to France, which is its second biggest market abroad.
The Kerala contingent to the 35th edition of IFTM was led by Mr. S. Harikishore, Director, Kerala Tourism, who said, "France is still a strong market for Kerala Tourism. The interest on Kerala among French travellers was tremendous. The kind of response that we received at IFTM 2013 vindicates the importance that we give to the travel market here. We are going to witness an admirable increase in tourist arrivals from France in the coming years."
At IFTM 2013, the Kerala pavilion, more than anything else was an artist’s delight. A series of paintings adorned the walls of the sprawling pavilion at the just-concluded IFTM 2013 in Paris, drawing attention and appreciation from visitors. The paintings portrayed the enchanting beauty of Kerala’s abundant natural wealth.
As part of the travel fair, a series of meetings were held by the Kerala delegation with travel and tour representatives and also travel media professionals from France. The Kerala delegation also included three hoteliers viz. Abad Hotels and Resorts, Joy’s Hotels and Resorts and Kumarakom Lake Resort, who were also co-exhibitors at IFTM 2013.
France comes after U.K. as the second largest market for Kerala Tourism and close to one lakh visitors from France reached Kerala last year.
