The Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) is all set to unveil its seventh edition in Kerala. Commencing from December 1, the 45-day long shopping festival will give an impetus to the tourism and commercial sectors in the State. To make the shopping festival a self-sustaining project in the next two years, the State government has revamped the norms for the upcoming edition of GKSF.

An endeavour to make GKSF popular and for encouraging more shops and business establishments as partners, the government has decided to drop the registration fee. “The government and the traders will take care of the distribution of coupons and logistics,” said, Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism during a press meet held recently in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram.

An MoU has been signed with the Kerala Vayapari Vyvasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) to increase the registration of traders to one lakh from last year’s 6,000 registrations.

The Mega lucky draw of gold gets replaced with Rs. 10 million as Bumper prize. Gold will be given as one, two, four and eight gram coins to the winners of Weekly draws conducted in all of the 14 districts during the six-week course of the shopping festival.

Mr. Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala will inaugurate GKSF Season 7 on 1st December in Kozhikode. The closing ceremony will be held in Thrissur.
