The Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS) got an acknowledgement at the international level, when it was elected as the Regional Vice President of affiliate members of Asia-Pacific region in the General Assembly of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), held in Zimbabwe in August 2013. KITTS thus became the first tourism institute from India to be elected for the above position.
What made KITTS a candidate for the Regional Vice President was its consistent efforts and novel approaches in the domain of tourism education, research and consultancy, which caught the attention of UNWTO. In October 2012, KITTS was made an affiliate member of UNWTO and included in the knowledge network.
