The red laterite cliff fringed seaside destination of Varkala and the mist laden hills of Munnar in Kerala have both found their respective places among the 100 ‘best value index’ around the globe, as per the survey conducted by travel search engine Trivago.
The survey says that Varkala in south India enjoys 28th position among a number of budget travel destinations. And so is Munnar, the popular hill station in Kerala occupying the 60th spot. Besides the two, five other tourist destinations from India made it to the list as affordable travel destinations.
Varkala, located between the backwater destination of Alappuzha and the internationally renowned beach of Kovalam in Kerala is a serene destination on the western coast of India and attracts lots of tourists. The captivating backwaters, mineral springs and secluded coves make Varkala a special entity among tourist destinations in Kerala.
Munnar used to be the summer retreat of the erstwhile British government in south India. It is one of the popular hill stations in India. With its sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities, Munnar has become a favourite destination of holidayers.
The ‘best value index’ is arrived at by calculating the yearly average overnight price of a standard double room, combined with the destination’s overall hotel reputation from over 82 million traveller reviews.
