Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) Hotels and Resorts is all set to install waste treatment plants in their properties including the Tamarind Easy Hotels throughout the State. Majority of the KTDC hotels in the State already have biogas plants and works are nearing completion at the Mascot and Chaithram Hotels in Thiruvananthapuram and the Bolgatty Palace in Kochi.
The proposal for waste treatment plants has been a Green Kerala Initiative of Kerala Tourism. Apart from KTDC owned hotels, a biogas plant was set up at the Museum compound in Thiruvananthapuram with the help of the Museums and Zoos department. The Tamarind hotels in Alappuzha and Kayamkulam are already equipped with waste treatment plants.
