Arippara waterfalls, a panoramic tourism site near Thiruvambady in Kozhikode, will soon undergo adequate facelift for making it more appealing to travellers. Kerala Tourism has sanctioned financial aid of Rs. 4.7 million for developing tourist amenities at Arippara.
Work will commence under the guidance of Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO). The major developments included in the first phase are a tourist facilitation centre, toilet block, sufficient number of rain-huts and other basic amenities.
The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has already undertaken several tourism promotion campaigns to attract visitors to the waterfalls. Recently in association with stakeholders in the private sector, DTPC hosted an international kayaking event – Malabar River Festival - which witnessed participation of people from different countries including the U.S.A., Italy and Hungary.
