The work inauguration of the Phase I of beautification and developmental works of the Kozhikode south beach was done by Mr.A.P.Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala. The work includes setting up of rain shelters, new seating arrangements and ornamental lamps, which would be completed at a cost of Rs. 38.5 million.
In his inaugural address, the tourism minister said, "Kozhikode would get more attention in the coming days from the State and the Centre for developing tourist destinations. So far, the focus was mainly on improving tourism amenities in Wayanad and Kasaragod districts."
The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), along with the Harbour Engineering Department will complete the Phase I beautification works within 12 months. Another project coming up is the beautification work of the S.M. Street.
