The second edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale, a biennial international contemporary art exhibition has started in Kochi. Hundreds of artists from different countries and their artwork will be showcased in this four-month long exhibition, which is being held at Fort Kochi, Muziris region and the surrounding islands of Kochi. Noted artist Mr. Jitish Kallat will be the curator for the second edition of the Biennale.
A four-month-long festival of performing arts featuring some 650 artistes, involving 25 cultural groups is an added attraction in this year’s Biennale. The cultural programmes will feature traditional art forms of Kerala like Panchavadyam, Ottan Thullal, Chavittunatakam, Duff Muttu, and Oppana. Renowned performing arts expert Mr. Keli Ramachandran will be in charge of the cultural programmes.
International participants for the 108-day Biennale include those from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Middle East and from Western and Far Eastern countries.
