In its effort to tap the Scandinavian market, Kerala Tourism made an impressive presence during the MATKA Nordic Travel Fair 2014. For the first time, Kerala Tourism had a space of its own during the travel fair that was held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
Touted as the busiest travel fete in northern Europe, the fair was attended by nearly 1100 exhibitors from 70 countries. The fair saw Kerala Tourism highlighting its recently introduced facility of Tourist Visa on Arrival (T-VoA).
"The fair proved to be the right platform for Kerala Tourism to highlight the Tourist Visa on Arrival (T-VoA) facility to a wider audience at a global stage. We hope that Europe can be the springboard to our future growth in tourist arrivals," said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala.
“Through these fairs and road-shows, Kerala Tourism aims to tap the Scandinavian market by targeting countries individually and collectively. Finland is a highly prospective market for us,” said Mr. Suman Billa, Secretary, Kerala Tourism.
Led by Mr. S. Harikishore, Director, Kerala Tourism, the Kerala contingent comprised representatives from leading hotel groups from the State. "The response is exciting and we definitely hope that this will be converted into business," said Mr. S. Harikishore. He also had meetings with key trade leaders on the sidelines of the fair.
Apart from Finland, the Tourist Visa on Arrival facility started at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi airports is available to Japan, Singapore, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
