Innovative and sustainable tourism projects

Ranked as one of the most visited and favourite tourist destination in the world, Kerala Tourism further plans to launch new innovative and sustainable tourism projects under the government of Kerala's 'Mission 676' programme. These projects are 'God’s Own Country, People’s Own Tourism', Water Taxi Boat Service, Revival of Spice Route and making tourist destinations friendly to the differently-abled visitors.

‘God’s Own Country, People’s Own Tourism’ is meant for the sustainable development of tourist destinations in Kerala with the support of the local people. The project will take tourism to the common man and ensure that the benefits of tourism reach the local people. The proposed Water Taxi Boat Service will be launched in Kochi and for the purpose three air-conditioned boats, each of which accommodates 25 tourists is getting ready. It will run services to link Marine Drive, Bolgatty, Vypeen, Fort Kochi and Mattancherry.

"Unified ticketing would be launched for the boat service, enabling tourists to visit the Muziris Heritage Project and the Muziris Spice Route," said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala after announcing the new projects.

Kerala Tourism is also planning to make important tourist destinations friendly to the differently-abled visitors by constructing ramp, handrail, information system and spot alert system as per the international standards.
