Taking the tally to 12, the tourism ministry has extended the Tourist Visa on Arrival (T-VoA) facility to the citizens of South Korea too. They can now fly to Kerala and avail of the facility at the international airports in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
A tourist can get a T-VoA with a maximum validity of 30 days. The purpose of the visit should only be recreation, sightseeing, meeting friends or relatives. Those applying for the visa should not have residence or occupation in India and should hold a passport with a minimum validity of six months.
Besides South Korea, other nations enjoying T-VoA in Kerala are Japan, Singapore, Finland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
The introduction of T-VoA facility has proved rewarding for Kerala as it has given a fresh impetus to the tourism industry of the State. Already Rs 5.3 million had been spent by Kerala Tourism for the T-VoA campaign in order to catch the attention of holidayers from the 11 countries. It is also gets highlighted during international travel marts and roadshows organized by Kerala Tourism.
