Kerala Tourism is set to prepare a master plan for the comprehensive and sustainable development of five prominent pilgrim centres in the state. The proposal intends to improve all basic facilities for pilgrims and the waste management systems in place at these centres. A sum of Rs. 29 million has been sanctioned from the ‘Upgrading and Creation of Infrastructure and Amenities (Plan)’ in this year’s budget.
The five pilgrim centres that are part of this plan include - Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Sabarimala in Pathanamthitta, Guruvayur Temple and Cheraman Juma Masjid in Thrissur and the Malayattoor church in Ernakulam.
