Malabar River Festival, Asia’s biggest White-Water festival, is set to sparkle in international spotlight with paddlers of international repute ensuring their participation. The third edition of this kayaking championship will be held at Thusharagiri in Kozhikode from July 22 to 26.
With its top quality competitors and the amount of prize money, the Malabar River Festival is fast emerging as Asia’s largest kayaking championship. More than 50 contestants from over 20 countries including Poland, Russia and Germany have registered for the Kayaking events. Two-time world extreme kayaking champion Joe Morley from the United Kingdom, 2012 London Olympics finalist Mike Dawson from New Zealand and noted kayaker from Italy Max Benetton are among the big names to be featured in this year’s event.
Comprising an international kayaking championship, kayaking training programmes and rafting sessions, the Malabar River Festival is organised by the Kozhikode District Tourism Promotion Council in collaboration with the Kerala Kayaking Academy and Madras Fun Tools. Iruvanjipuzha and Chalipuzha, two of the best white waters in South India will be the venues of the championship.
