A Contest for Video Buffs
Kerala Tourism has successfully conducted a month-long 'Video Sequencing Contest' that tested the creative and technical skills of the participants in sequencing jumbled video clips.
“In this era of internet and smart-phones, websites have become one of the most popular mediums for cost-effective tourism promotion”, said Mr. A. P. Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Kerala. He also added that it was a matter of pride that the Kerala Tourism website comes within the top ten in website traffic among all countries of Asia-Pacific and the Middle-East.
“We pioneered the use of online video for destination promotion and initiated timely actions and state-of-the-art technology to maintain its current supremacy,” said Mr. G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Secretary, Kerala Tourism.
“Tourism promotion is an area where there is heavy competition and each destination is vying to increase traffic to its website. In this context, the 'Video Sequencing Contest' served as a novel promotional tool for Kerala Tourism,” said Mr. P. I. Sheik Pareeth, Director, Kerala Tourism
Kerala Tourism had conducted the 'Clint Memorial Global Painting Competition' last year, which drew a huge response from across the globe. In the video sequencing contest winners were offered prizes ranging from trips to Kerala and smart phones to authentic Kerala souvenirs like Aranmula Kannadi, houseboat models, Netturpetti, Kerala Saree and Kerala mundu.
