Published in Newsletter Issue No. 278 - October 2016

Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) Hotels and Resorts have rolled out a slew of mega tourism projects and will construct eight guesthouse-cum-hotels in metros and pilgrim centres in other states. The mega projects will come up in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Tirupathi, Bengaluru, Mookambika, Kanyakumari, and Guruvayur.

The guesthouse-cum-hotels will be modeled on the lines of the highly successful ‘Raindrops’ hospitality endeavour at Chennai. A mega adventure project is also envisaged at the Muzhippilangad Beach in Kannur which is the only drive-in beach in Kerala. There are also plans to set up wayside amenities on major roads within the State to provide food and clean toilets to travellers.

KTDC also aims to strengthen the training division and the staff will be given training in hospitality. The tour division will launch conducted tours. Further, a redress forum would be set up in the KTDC to address complaints swiftly. Steps would also be taken to fully utilise the G. V. Raja Convention Centre at Kovalam, Marina at Bolgatty Palace and boating at Thekkady while the Bekal resort property of KTDC would be developed into a centre of attraction.
